Video Achiving Tips

Let's face it.  Saving and backing up videos is a chore.  And with higher resolution HD cameras that means a lot of space/bandwidth is required on your home PC.  New hardware products have some time and storage space saving features to save those videos online .. even in HD.  Look for a review of the Sony HDR-CX360V and its PMB software, and the Kodak Easyshare Sport C123 and the Kodak Share Button App and Easyshare Software in the new year.  Happy holidays from Stardust Beach Studio (or as the neighbours call us "The Griswalds" !!!

Online Back-ups with SkyDrive

Obviously free online back-up solutions are not a solution for video archives - the free space is just too small.  But for everything else associated with your projects there are some great choices.  Stardust Beach tried Google Docs but not being able to work in native formats for MS Office documents was a problem.  Enter Microsoft - yes Bill and the boys.  Their free SkyDrive kicks Google butt (when is the last time you heard that?).  With a hotmail or live account (click here) you get 25 GB of free storage with online collaboration options in the cloud! Plus you get 5 GB of sync space that automatically updates files from selected folders on your PC onto SkyDrive.  You likely have a Flickr account for your pictures and videos on YouTube ... for all the rest there is SkyDrive.  Never lose an important file.  Worried about security online, use passwords for those sensitive Word docs and Excel workbooks.
